Stellure is an online catalog of hairstyles that you can view on your own face. We're constantly adding new styles. Many of our styles can be viewed in three dimensions. Our patent-pending system is a world first and can create a 3D version of your face and then you can see our 3D styles from every direction on your own face.

Stellure takes the guesswork and risk out of choosing a new hairstyle because you can see what a style will look like on your own face before the first snip!

If you don't have access to a digital camera or scanner to add your own photos you can choose one that mathces your face shape using our free Face Shape Wizard, Stellure will guide you in selecting the stand-in model that best represents you.

You can create a personalized 3D model of yourself using our system in around 30 minutes. If you get halfway through and get interrupted, you can start again any time. You get to see the 3D model at the end of the process, and decide whether or not you are happy with it. If not, you can try again with better photos. Having both the personalized and the stand-in models in 3D allows you to see our 3D hairstyles from all the way around not just the front. Our patent-pending technology is a world first: a virtual 3D view of hairstyles on a 3D model of your own face available from your own home.

There are styles in the Stellure catalogue to suit every woman. Our powerful search technology means you can find styles based on a whole host of criteria such as hair density, hair length and face shape.

We want you to experiment with as many new look as you dare, and encourage people to go outside of their comfort zones. Don't just try on styles that you have had in the past - try something new! Stellure takes away the risk of going a little crazy! :)

Although Stellure uses sophisticated 3D modelling technology, it is still a very simple application to use. All you need to do is become a member, decide what kind of hairstyles you are interested in and then start browsing the styles.

To see the hairstyles on your own photo you need to upload two passport-style photographs of yourself that will form the basis of your 3D model. When you first use Stellure you will be sent an email with a link to the member's section where you can create your 3D model of your face which is used to view both 2D and 3D styles.

Inside the members's area of the website there is button labeled: "Upload photos". When you click on this button you enter a wizard that takes you step-by-step through the process of uploading your photos for your 3D model. You mark some key points on your photos, such as the pupils and the corners of your mouth. The whole process is very easy to do, and takes about thirty minutes. Once you've gone through all the steps your 3D model will be ready to view in a couple of minutes. Please remember the closer your photos match our guideines, and the more carefully you mark the key points on your photos, the better your 3D model will be. To view the hairstyle catalog go to the front page of the Stellure website at www.stellure.com, click on the Login >> link. You then enter your registered email address and the password which we emailed you when you first used Stellure. Please check your spam folders for our welcome email. If you can't find your welcome email please join again and make sure you enter your correct email address.

No. Stellure is a web-based application. This means that rather than install Stellure on your computer you use it over the Internet from anywhere in the world. However, it is best to use a recent web browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, and you will need to have a recent version of Macromedia Flash (Flash 9 or later) installed. You can download the latest version in three minutes or less on a dialup Internet connection.

Your photos will form the basis of the 3D model of your face that you can use in the Stellure Hair Style Studio. If you do not want to send us photos, that's fine. Instead of seeing the hairstyles on your own face, you can see them on one of our 3D stand-in models.

When using a stand-in model, you can select from a number of models of different ages, skin tones and face shapes. You select your stand-in model as part of the Face Shape Wizard.

Your 3D model is based on two photographs of your face that you upload to the Stellure site. For best results, we need two passport-style photographs of your face - one from the front and one from the side. The quality of your 3D model we create depends mainly on how closely you follow the photo recommendations. On the photo recommendations page you can see an example of a processed 3D model and a comprehensive list of the photo requirements and recommendations.

If you don't have access to a digital camera to take the pictures, or a scanner to scan in paper photos, try your local photo processor as these days most of them are capable of scanning pictures for you or taking digital photos that they can give you on a CD. If you're going to get photos taken for Stellure at a passport photo outlet (or a friend's place), then make sure you print out the photo recommendations page so that they know what you need.

Your photographs are held securely in our database. We will not provide them to anyone, and they can only be accessed by authorized Stellure personnel. Your privacy is very important to us — please refer to our stringent privacy policy for details.

No other Stellure user will be able to access your model. However, technical staff may have reason to see your photograph and your model in the course of its creation. To access your model you will need to log in using your unique and private username and password. Like any other username and password this is something that you should keep secure and not share with anyone else. Of course, you are welcome to log in and show off your potential new looks to your friends.   :)

Yes. You can also choose from previous 3D models you've created if you've made more than one.

Many factors influence what type of hairstyle will suit you, but your face shape is the single biggest determinant. Because the oval face shape is the most balanced, it is often considered the most appealing. From time to time, fashion dictates that other shapes such as diamond or rectangular are desireable. Regardless, understanding your face shape allows you to frame your face with your hair in such a way that your best features are enhanced.

Our Face Shape Wizard was developed to allow you to objectively determine your true face shape. We found that many people had the wrong idea about their face shape and so were taking the wrong advice about how to best frame it. Because the Stellure Face Shape Wizard breaks down the process into more objective steps and then presents you with the results you can have more confidence in its accuracy as compared to looking at some examples and descriptions and having a guess.

Once you have determined your face shape, the Face Shape Wizard gives you some advice on what type of styles to look for that will flatter you best. In addition, the Hair Style Studio allows you to search for styles that are recommended for your face shape.

Everyone is different. Some people have faces that are easily distinguished as one face shape, while others might straddle the categories. Each of the options you select in the Face Shape Wizard are weighted according to which feature most determines a particular face shape, and the results are analysed to decide which face shape you most probably are. If the results are close (between two or three face shapes), the Face Shape Wizard will let you choose which one most resembles you. They are ordered from "more likely" to "less likely" from left to right.

Certainly not! Recommended hairstyles simply provide you with a good starting point. It is worthwhile to keep the principles (of face shapes) in mind while you're browsing, but ultimately the decision is yours. Just as you may suit hairstyles not recommended by Stellure, you may also find that some recommended hairstyles won't suit you. There are many other factors which can help determine whether a hairstyle will look good on you, and these are beyond the scope of this software at present. If you're happy with the style, then who are we to argue?

Yes. We will be constantly adding new styles to our catalogue. Hair fashion is constantly shifting and developing and it is our aim to deliver the most up-to-the-minute styles to you along with a good range of classics.

Premiere members can print out hairstyles. To become a premiere member please login and choose on of the premiere membership options. After you have decided which style you (maybe with a little help from your friends) want simply push the "print" button in the Hair Style Studio viewer. This will give you four views of 3D styles and the front view for 2D styles. The quality of the print depends on the quality of your printer and the paper you are using.

Included on the printout are some basic styling instructions so you'll know how to maintain your new style! Remember though, once you've picked a style have a chat about it with a trusted stylist. Unfortunately, not all styles are possible for everyone. Your stylist will help you take factors like your hairline, hair density, hair condition, etc into account.

Most of us have at some time gone to the hairdresser and received a fabulous new style that we love. Then, you wash it, and there is no replicating that style at home. Stellure helps you in achieving great hair everyday by providing you with styling hints and techniques for every style in the catalogue. As well as viewing these notes in the Hair Style Studio, you can print them out if you're a Premiere Member.

The most probable reason this is happening is because you have disallowed "session cookies" from the Stellure site. The Stellure login mechanism relies on your browser having session cookies switched on. Cookies allow temporary information to be stored on your local computer that can only be used by the website that created the cookie for you. In this case, we use the cookie to store whether or not you're logged in and the face shape you have selected.

All you need to do to fix it is enable cookies for Stellure in your browser. Please note that this does not mean you have to allow all sites to set cookies - just Stellure will be added to the "goodies" list.

If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 go to the "Tools" menu and choose "Internet Options". Go to the "Privacy" tab, and at the bottom press the "Edit..." button. In the "Address of Web site" box please type:

http://www.stellure.com

and then press the "Allow" button.

Then, in the same box as before, please type:

http://stellure.com

and then press the "Allow" button. These need to be typed exactly right for this to be successful.

Then choose "OK" to close that settings window, and "OK" again to close the other window.

Now, (fingers crossed) you should be able to log in at http://www.stellure.com/members using your username and password.

These days we all receive so much spam that anti-spam software either used by you or your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has become a necessity. However, sometimes this software blocks out perfectly legitimate email that you actually wanted to receive. If you have not received email from us after you have joined Stellure, then chances are that your (or your ISP's) anti-spam software is blocking our email. To receive the email either remove us from your "blacklist" and add us to your "whitelist" or "friends list"..
